It seems like my husband and I (by that I mean mostly my husband) go through store bought mouthwashes so quickly. They are usually pretty expensive and contain lots of alcohol. So I decided I was going to try a homemade recipe. At first I was a little skeptical by the ingredients but it was easy to make and even my husband liked it!
First to find the perfect bottle. I thought about just going to the store and buying a small bottle of alcohol since I wanted it to be glass but I actually found a cute bottle that contained fruit syrup in the fridge. I poured the syrup in tupperware, washed the bottle, and then removed the stickers with the almighty Goo Gone. Voila....
Next... the recipe
1/2 cup of water
1/2 cup of witch hazel
1/2 cup of aloe vera juice
couple drops of essential oil
*NOTE
The witch hazel I used had rose petals in it and I would not use it again ( I had to overcompensate with much more essential oil to remove the floral taste)
Also you can use any type of essential oil, I used peppermint but on my next batch I think I am going to try some tea tree.
I tend to add a couple more drops of peppermint for a stronger taste, so you can add as many as you like.
Add all ingredients into the bottle and give it a good shake.
Final product accompanied by some fresh mint leaves, which believe it or not are a great breath freshener. Gargle and chew away!
